New Mob Museum highlights Las Vegas’ history

The promoters of Las Vegas’ newest museum would like you to say hello to their little friends. Opening on Feb. 14, The Mob Museum chronicles the lives — and often gruesome deaths — of Al Capone, “Bugsy” Siegel and a rogue’s gallery of crooks, hoods and Mafioso.

Congress urged to stop airlines from violating Federal Aviation Act

RADNOR, PA – Business Travel Coalition (BTC) today transmitted a letter signed by some 150 organizations to Congressional conference committee members negotiating a long-term reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Signatories urged conferees to include language that will prevent some airlines from continuing to violate Section 41712 of the U.S. Federal Aviation Act.

Specifically, these industry-leading organizations ask that Congress direct the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to within 180 days require airlines to disclose optional fee information (e.g., checked baggage charges, at-airport ticketing fees, etc.) in the same electronic and transactable formats used to publish airfares themselves.

A plane-spotter in Germany has captured amazing footage of planes landing in fierce crosswinds.

A video featuring spectacular airliner landings during strong winds at Dusseldorf Airport in Germany has gone viral, clocking up more than 1.5 million views less than three weeks.

The video, shot by German Martin Bogdan and posted to his ‘Cargospotter’ YouTube account, shows a number of airline jets attempting to land during strong crosswinds, one after the other, shot from the front of the runway.

Due to the strong winds, the jets approach the runway at unusual angles, occasionally tilting to compensate as they come in to land.

Denali bus and campground reservations to begin

ANCHORAGE, Alaska Denali National Park officials say reservations for shuttle buses and campgrounds for the 2012 visitor season will be taken beginning Thursday.

Reservations can be made online or by telephone, fax or mail for the buses and the park’s four largest campgrounds.

Park officials say about 65 percent of the shuttle bus seats are available for advance reservations and so are 100 percent of campsites at Riley Creek, Teklanika River, Wonder Lake and Savage River campgrounds.
